A consumer –
Functional, somewhat expensive, pulse and O2 monitor
Among the myriad pulse and oxygen monitoring devices available on Amazon, this one is a bit on the pricier side (but not the priciest), but it does what it advertises and seems to be accurate.Setup is pretty easy: just charge the device, put it on your wrist, connect the thumb/finger sensor to it, and it just turns on and starts working with a real-time readout of your pulse and O2 measurements. I am dinging it a bit for having a proprietary charging cord. In this day and age, everything should be USB-C, or at least USB-A or even micro-USB. Lose this product’s charging cord and you are going to be searching for another one from the company or elsewhere online because you won’t be able to charge the device using any other cord.I’m using an iPhone 15 with the current iOS version, and the Bluetooth connectivity was immediate and seamless. The app installation and setup was also straightforward, and the app has a lot of functionality for viewing your vitals. It can even export your records to PDF or CSV if you need that. I compared the readings to those of my Apple Watch and they are very close, which I think is because they use basically the same technology. The manual emphasizes that the device is “not intended for medical use”, is “not an apnea monitor”, and “should not be used for arrhythmia analysis.” It says, “This device is for Sports and Aviation use only”. Basically, what they are telling you is not to play “doctor” if you suspect a real medical issue because something like this alone would not be sufficient for making a diagnosis or, perhaps more importantly, ruling out a medical condition.Personally, I wore it to bed to check my oxygen levels while sleeping, just out of curiosity. It is comfortable enough, and the sensor fits snugly enough on my thumb that it stayed in place all night and didn’t bother me at all. The charts and graphs on the app are easy to pull up and intuitive to read.Overall it seems like a decent, useful device, if you follow the directions for using it correctly, and understand its limitations. I would suggest shopping around at all the devices that are available as you might be able to find something cheaper and simpler that suits your needs. But this device seems to be a decent pick as well.

If you need to track your Oxygen Saturation and/or pulse over time, look into this one
I’ve owned a couple of other Vibeat SpO2/Pulse meters for a while. Both my parents were on Oxygen therapy. The Vibeat meters were some of the quickest to get a reading, and became our most trusted SpO2 meters. I understand that this brand isn’t well known, but I, for one, have come to trust it.Note: this particular product is not a medical device. It is not intended for healthcare use.I tested out this SpO2 meter to see if it would work for long-term (several hours) tracking of pulse rate and blood oxygen saturation. The device gave the same readings as my mother’s medical SpO2 meter, so it does appear to be accurate. I tested it for around 10 hours, and there was still some battery left. I can assume the battery would last the stated 10-12 hours. This device is worn as a wristband, with a tethered sensor that goes around one of your fingers. The wrist-worn display/storage unit does have a built-in LCD that gives the current SpO2 level and pulse rate. The device stores the measured SpO2 and pulse levels over time. I tried this out several times over the course of a few hours to get some longer-term readings. You will need the Vihealth app on your Android or iOS device. It is available in their respective app stores. When opening the app, I set up an account and then tapped “add device.” It immediately found this meter and connected. The current SpO2 and pulse rate began showing up in the app. That’s great, but here’s the magic. Once you take the device off your finger, it automatically downloads the history it has recorded to the app on your phone or tablet. There is no finicky copy here, paste there. It happens automatically. Folks, it gets no easier than this. You’re then able to review the information from within the app. There are other features available as well. You can set alerts for max/min readings. If you do, there is a haptic buzzer built into the device where the wearer can feel the alert. Although I didn’t attempt it, you can download the recorded data to a PC for further analysis if necessary. There are a lot of devices available that perform the functions of this one. However, Vibeat is a brand I have experience with and trust. I also can attest to how easy it is to use with the app. Honestly, it couldn’t be easier. This is not an inexpensive product, but if you need the functionality it provides, I’m sure you’ll see its value. I can easily recommend it.
